Bubba Stein:
U.S. vocalist Bubba Stein began his musical career as a trumpet player with the Jackson, Tennessee Civic Orchestra. After two years of unsuccessfully lobbying the Orchestra to include the Flamin' Groovies' "Shake Some Action" into the summer concert series, Stein joined up with some local rockers to form Jackson's Hole Orchestra. Through Jackson's Hole, Stein met:

Hans Rizzo:
Lead guitarist Rizzo grew up in Brazil where he studied Vale Tudo (no holds barred, bare knuckled fighting) and blues guitar. After the family moved to Granada (pronounced Gra-nay-da), Mississippi when he was 17, Hans got his chance to learn his licks directly from the likes of Mudpie Robinson and Little Toots McGrady. While in Jackson, Tennessee visiting his cousin, Hans saw an ad taken out by Bubba Stein. A day later, he was a member of Jackson's Hole.

Juan Teutopolis:
Juan grew up in Champaign, Il, the son of a University of Illinois ecomomics professor and her husband, a local news anchor. Despite the advantages of growing up in upper-middle class environment, Juan presented problems to his parents, teachers and citizens in general. At age 3, he set the family car on fire. At seven, he spray painted the neighbors windows, and at 10 stole a police car, using the car's PA to broadcast obscenities about Chief Illinek as he drove through the U of I campus.  While it appeared that he would be doomed for reform school at best, by age 12 he had befriended the new kid, Skipper Patel. Juan remembers sharing Skipper's distrust of adults, as well as his love for very loud noises.

Skipper Patel:
Skipper spent his early years in Athens (pronounced Ay-thens), Illinois where his family operated a local Dairy Queen. When Skipper was 11, his dad bought a DQ franchise in Champaign and Skipper found himself enrolled in Dick Butkus Middle School. As a shy kid in a new school, Skipper found it difficult making friends, but remembers being amused by the antics of Teutopolis, and soon afterwards joining Juan in a number of pranks. Among those most remembered by fellow students at Champaign Central High School was the time Juan and Skipper put condoms over the mufflers of faculty cars, then hid nearby to photograph the cars as they pulled out with inflated condoms protruding from their rears.

At fifteen, the two decided to try to put together a band, with Juan taking up keyboards while Skipper played bass. The two would later form the nucleus of the Sick Puppies, a band that became highly popular at college venues throughout the midwest.

Franco O'Reilly:
The son of an Italian-Irish marriage from Chicago, Franco O'Reilly, at 48, is the senior member of the band. A former computer engineer, Franco retired from The Big Shoulders Software Group after inventing a program that could produce the smell of fresh roasted coffee through a device plugged into a computer's audio output jack. Franco actually learned drums through his nephew, Jumbo O'Reilly, an established Chicago blues drummer with the Mississippi Bob Gibson Blues Review.
